A NEW PICTURE
Its like hearing a country song “It started in a country bar where I found my smile again”. And then the phone call. “ Mom I met a girl. She drives a convertible blue bug, a make up artist, and oh, did I mention she’s beautiful?” I found my smile too. It took me back to the time I first met Kevin. He was a mountaineer from Colorado, building cabinets, racing sail boats, and had beautiful blue or was it green or was it hazel eyes? I was a yuppie, working in the medical field, and a part time tourist guide. But, on a blind date, we found we were perfect together. When it comes to matters of the heart it seldom fits our criteria but rather our souls. Some even go as far as saying it’s magical. But I call it God’s love for us. He seldom gives us what we ask for but rather what He knows will align our hearts, will, and purpose to His because He is our creator and knows what will truly bring us JOY. But growth and sustainability in anything that really matters, wether it’s a career choice, a soulmate, children, or new direction after a loss, requires deep roots in God. The journey will have its challenges, the ups and downs, the disappointments, the unrealistic expectations…all a part of life. But how we navigate that will depend on where our anchor is…in Jesus. This April Kev and I will have been married 29 years. What has brought us through to the other side has been our commitment to God and in submission to His plans, rather than making us the center for our personal happiness. And so this picture. We stand before God at CCV with smiles knowing that with God all things are possible.
