Celebrations 2: The Graduation Party

What does a Mexican themed / teacher/GCU/ graduation party all have in common? Brooke…Three years ago Jake told us about his new friend Brooke. He met her his freshman year and got her a job at the Chick-fil-A on campus. When we finally met her we fell in love with her too. She was our adopted “ daughter “ we would have prayed for. She’s graduating a year early and is graduating tomorrow morning at GCU. We saw a change in Jake when they became “ duds?” together. He would talk about their “drop of the hat “ adventures that few people were willing to do. Her party consisted of Mexican food, crafts making snowman characters that represented each of the friends who came, a taco piñata ( some people REALLY have some issues!,) group pics with sunflowers & streamers, four tier chocolate mousse cake with a teacher themed decoration, and tear jerking videos ; one from her family & one from Jake. And at the end we presented a canvas picture of our favorite picture of Brooke and the beautiful words written on it from those who mean so much to her. Graduation is the ending of a remarkable time of preparation for your future and the beginning of a new chapter where you venture out with the hope of your dreams coming true. Jake said it best in his video ; “ look around at those who are here; these are just a few who you have changed their lives forever…and that will be what you do in the next chapter of your life..changing lives for the better because of your love for Jesus and the character of woman God has made you.. kind, compassionate, thoughtful, a teacher, a little “stubborn “ ( we can’t all be perfect!) loving and considerate. It was evident with the friends she had at the party that she was all these traits. So , on the eve of graduation Brooke, may you and every other graduate, walk down the isle with a grateful heart to the Lord for all that He has given you , all that was not so easy so that you will be better equipped for “ the real world”, and to remember how much you are loved. Can’t wait to see what God does in this next chapter of your life sweet Brooke♥️
