AGAINST ALL ODDS

I had gone on the biking route a million times. Ok, so the clouds looked ominous, about ready to dump a lot of rain. I wanted to go…and so we went. Starting off was good, and it felt good. My heart doctor had told me I needed to exercise daily so this was just my daily routine. I prayed that it wouldn’t rain and it didn’t. But coming back was different..very different. What I had not expected was the winds. For Kev this was not unusual. But for me it became a struggle..a real struggle. As I was fighting the winds, my gears started to slip. I couldn’t keep them in the right gear. Kev did everything he could to create a draft for me but it wasn’t working. I could feel my strength slowly dissipating and we were not getting any closer to home. The minor hills became momentous for me. Each rotation of my pedal was like going through quicksand. For the first time I wasn’t sure how my heart was going to do. But I felt as though the Lord was right there with me. He kept saying “ you can do this through my strength”. And then we were almost home. All I had to do was turn into the dirt road and we would be there. But, as I was turning, my front tire got stuck in the wet gravel, and down I went. If felt like it was in slow motion..until I felt that hard ground. Against all odds, I got up, brushed some of the sand off, got back on my bike, and peddled home. Kev felt horrible for me but I didn’t. I had just rode a very difficult ride for me…and I finished. Have you been in a difficult situation, where you just didn’t know if you could finish? Are you in that place now? Call on Jesus. No, really. Call on Jesus. He can and will be there…He will never leave or forsake you. You’re not alone. With Him all things are possible. After a hot shower, a few Advils, I thanked my hubby and Jesus, because going against all the odds, shows you who you are and the strength of our God. Can I hear an amen?
