APPLES,APPLES,AND…
It’s 4:15 am Saturday morning. I peel the apples, prepare the tin muffin pans, turn on the oven, make the batter, and finally the crumble. Still warm , I put them on my fancy yellow plate, like I do every Saturday morning, and put them in my car. The entire car smells soooo delicious, as if I was in Maine watching the trees turn color and eating a honeycrisp apple. I place them in the back of the warehouse where I work and go to my desk. The guys are always appreciative but really don’t know why I do it. It would just be easier to buy donuts, or for that matter, nothing. After church Kev and I had our dinner on the campus of CCV. Somberly I told Kev I needed to ask him to make a promise. If anything were to happen to me ( I did have an episode recently with my heart) I wanted him to share with those from my company this one point: each one of them are VALUED, they MATTER, that Jesus LOVES them. But, he knew they already knew this. How? By getting up early on Saturday morning to bake fresh bakery goods; to ask them about their health, their infertility issues, to make them laugh, to let them know Kev and I are praying for their cancer results. Kev assured me I was going to have a long life with him but that he promised me he would. I may not be the best in my job but I do know I was chosen by God to share this message of hope to each and every one of them. We all have gifts from God and opportinuities to share the JOY of the Lord, especially in times like these. So, for the good news. My cardiologist informed me that my stress test was not only good but that my heart is at the level of an athlete! More tests to be done to see if I qualify for a stent..or maybe a miracle? In the meantime, I’ve lost 17 lbs and continue my Zumba and yoga classes., along with my regular exercise regimen. My passion for baking continues in the hopes it will bring JOY and JESUS to those who need it the most. Anyone craving a salted caramel apple bar with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream, drizzled with a little caramel? I am, but, for now, I’ll just stick to my blueberry yogurt parfait …seriously???
