PERU: A DREAM COME TRUE

It had been a long time keeping this secret. It was intended for Jakes college graduation gift. I had been praying for a way to do it when God opened the door miraculously. When so many of Jakes friends went to amazing places after high school graduation, Jake was working two jobs, seven days a week, to pay for the rest of his upcoming college expenses. At the time it didn’t seem fair but it was the only way to get him there. At the end of the summer he did it. And now we’re coming to his last semester at GCU. He’ll graduate in April, ceremony in May and off to Peru with Kev. But this trip wasn’t just for his graduation. It was also for Kev and his dreams. As Kev shared in the video I took, Peru had been on his bucket list. For so many years Kev has just worked, and worked. While I was trying to build my business he was working several jobs. He gave up his dream job when we moved to AZ. And now he continues to work past his “retirement” age just so we can have a retirement! Before our friend Ed passed away, I remember Donna saying “ don’t wait to do what you dream about because you don’t know when you’ll get that chance”. And so Ed and Donna went to France. I still remember being so amazed at that wonderful trip. When I first learned about my heart issue, I got scared. There was so many things I still wanted to do, to see, to be a part of. But, the biggest desire was to give Kev and Jake a life experience that would bond them forever. And this was it. It was when I went out to San Diego and stayed with my friend Cindy that solidified my final decision. And with that the trip was booked. And then Christmas came. The secret was finally over..and to see the joy and shock on their faces made it all worth it. Now, don’t get me wrong. If we could have afforded all of us to go on a family trip I would have done it. But, this trip was appointed by God in every way. And for me? Well, thanks to my sissy’s Christmas present, I’ll be flying out to see my family, including my brother Tom, and hopefully my friend Dori in Boston. As Donna shared “ sooner is better” and so I’m going to try and live that out for 2022. How about you? Do you have a dream that you keep saying “ later” too? Maybe we can all find our dreams fulfilled in 2022..for the Lord has said “ All things are possible in Him..we just need to ask.
