A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE
Her eyes flittered when she heard my voice. “Kathleen, it’s Terri. I’m here Kathleen”. Christmas may be only a few weeks away but for Kathleen’s family and friends, this is our Christmas miracle. It was only last Friday when I received a call from her sister saying that she would probably not make it through the weekend. She got covid over three weeks ago, and, do to underlying health issues, she succumbed to the virus quickly. For these last weeks its been a roller coster. She started on dialysis when her kidneys stopped working the way they should. She was then diagnosed with pneumonia and then Mers. We had little hope of her surviving…and then something changed. Instead of taking a turn for the worse, she began to get better. After visiting with her yesterday she is more in a “recovery” mode. I FaceTimed with her family as they told her how much they loved her. I read passages out of the Bible but it was the Christmas story from the book of Luke that brought her joy. She was getting the ventilator tube out that day so she would eventually be able to talk. Her oxygen level continues to get better as they use less from the ventilator. I sat by her side, holding her gloved hand, and was quietly praying while playing Christmas music on my iPhone. It was then that I noticed her blood pressure going down. Tears ran down her face as we listened together the songs of Jesus birth. With all that has been sad this year this has brought me such JOY. When I left the hospital I was spent. I sat in my car and cried for awhile. I was so grateful for this answered prayer. One thing is for sure; God isn’t finished with Kathleen. I have a feeling Jesus and her have been having a lot of conversations and she will have much to share with us. Even in this season of such heartaches there are still miracles happening. From her family and friends, we want to thank all of those that prayed and continue to pray for Kathleen . And to Jesus, we come humbly before you, with tears of gratitude, for this Christmas miracle.
