LET IT SNOW LET IT SNOW
It’s cold outside so it’s time for a hot cocoa drink with mini marshmallows. Well, in AZ, it’s 70 degrees in December so I did the second best thing. How about a four tier hot cocoa powder cake with layers of hot cocoa frosting and mini marshmallows, and whip cream with more hot cocoa powder encasing it? Right? And for the decor…Kev, with his artistic flare, created the perfect winter wonderland snowman family! . Lastly, white chocolate drippings for the illusion of ice cycles down the sides of the cake. Done!. Baking before work, assembling after work, and finishing the decorations the next day, was truly an act of love. It was for our last gathering with our home group. And then we got a text. The host for our party had tested positive for Covid. Fortunately, he is doing fairly well so we are grateful for that. But, what to do with this cake? It was on to plan B ( I didn’t have a plan B really ). I invited everyone over for dessert and to meet our friends Luke and Lori. It turned out to be one of the best times we’ve had with our friends. There was plenty of laughter, talk, wine, and of course, cake! Even our neighbor got in on the fun when we recruited him to take a group picture ( thanks Randy!) Some of the best times in our lives can be when our plans are thwarted and we need to be flexible to go a different direction. But, it can also be said that “going a different path” can be extremely devastating to what we had hoped for. Is anyone facing that right now? Is this Christmas season what you had envisioned? Some would say no. A few weeks ago I had asked for urgent prayer for my friend who had Covid and was in the hospital on a ventilator. She is still fighting for her life and the outcome could go either way. A dear friend of ours is waiting for surgery due to kidney cancer. I was thrown a curve ball when my blood tests came back with elevated cholesterol again.. Life’s circumstances are volatile at best…but God is the same..His purposes are always motivated in love…even if it doesn’t always feel like it. He showed us this at this very time…Christmas. Jesus. May those who are finding this Christmas season to have more tears than joy find God to be more real than any other time in your life.
