A NEW MISSION
As the sun comes up the newly growing trees, baby sunflower sprouts, and hanging flowers wave at the first week of fall. They survived the brutal heat and are now flourishing in the cool mornings and delightful rays of sunshine. Yes, it’s a new season that promises great new adventures and opportunities for those who “weathered” the drought. And so it is for me. With my aqua blue scrubs on I enter into the home of my first client as a caregiver. The outward appearance took my breath away…and not for the good. Until I met her. I knew instantly this was my new calling. As I shared with some, I never thought I would or could do some of the things I have done already. But, for her, it was a JOY. As time has gone on God has directed me on what He wants me to do for her…to bring JOY, COMFORT. HOPE, and LIGHT where there was none. We even laugh now. I call her “My Queen” and she answers “ Yes?'“…more laughter. With her eyes bad she asked if I could read my bible to her. I do some studying ahead of time so I can explain what I am going to be reading. And wouldn’t you know it it’s in the book of Isaiah!! When I shared with her the prophesies of the end times she sat straight up. “ What is the “ end times? tribulation? Are we there now? “ After an hour discussion of the overview she quietly sat back in her bed and smiled. A few days later she shared with me that she has cancer and won’t be doing any treatments. She believes God is going to heal her, but, if He doesn't, she’s ready to go home. And then she asked me to pray for her. When I left God spoke to me saying “ all the roads I have taken you lead to this new one…your new mission”. For those who have gone through a difficult season, maybe not understanding why you have, it was not wasted time…wasted pain. God does everything with a purpose. And for every crossroad that led to another unknown path God was always there..directing you towards your final destination. Heaven. Where there will be no more tears, no more sorrows, just JOY, JOY, JOY. You are with the Father now. As Christians death is the passageway to home, our eternal home. Whatever path you are on now, embrace it, lean into it with peace, because with Jesus leading you it is the right path. It’s a new season. What is YOUR mission?
