SEEN THROUGH NEW LENSES
After much anticipation I finally had my eye surgery. The surgery itself was easier but the recovery a little but more difficult. Maybe it’s because I’m three years older than the first one or maybe it’s a new doctor or, I just didn’t remember my recovery woes..But, one thing is for sure..I can see! And I can see much, much better. As protocol for post surgery, I was not allowed to exert myself so all my activities and work were put on hold. Instead, I took up walking, a lot. Like looking through my new lenses, I saw new things while walking. With cooler mornings I would be out early, as was all the other Arizonians! I met new neighbors with their beloved dogs, beautiful gardens that had survived the excessive heat, estate sales, Sun City volunteers, bikers, houses up for sale, license plates showing that the snow birds had arrived once again…Walking requires a slower pace, which requires patience to get to your final destination, which eventually requires one to think more. I discovered I didn’t have a lot of patience or that I liked to think too much. But sometimes that may be the only way God can get our attention..to slow us down enough to say “ I miss you. Let’s talk. I have things I want to share with you. There’s a crossroad coming up and you need to be able to hear me so you know which way to go. I’m right here. Don’t be afraid of what’s coming. Iv’e already gone before you to prepare the way. But for now just rest..walk slower and smell the flowers budding, the bees humming, the cool breeze before the sun comes up, the multicolored sunrise…Yes, new lenses show you what you have been missing…and sometimes it’s showing us Jesus in a new light. Do you need to slow down? Listen? Rest? Are you at your crossroads right now and unsure of which way to go? Jesus says “ I am the Way, the Truth, the Light”. I pray that YOU too will be able to see with new eyes and know that Jesus is right there, beside you, and will never leave you or forsake you. As for me, it’s time to put on my walking shoes and “special sunglasses”, and start walking…and listening…and praying…praying for all of you…
