BUENAS TARDES EVERYONE!

The party was long over due. The minute you walked in it was as if you had been transported back to Mexico, or rather, Texas. Luke and Lori had started planning this incredible Mexican fiesta weeks ago. It was our belief that they had hired a taco bar company and we would just order our food. Instead, they had done it ALLLLL!! Margaritas were flowing, guacamole was set next to the chips, key lime cupcakes ( yes those were mine!) were set with all the other yummy desserts, homemade tortillas were filled with pork, chicken. beef, and let us not forget the amazing beans and rice! And the people…they just kept coming and coming. We were reminiscing with old friends, meeting new friends, laughing with everyone. So, you ask, why all this celebration? It was about Luke. Awhile back he had been diagnosed with a heart defect, that if not treated, could end his life early. The journey to get the open heart surgery, the day of the surgery, the recovery and all of its ups and downs..required the support of many, many people..and he made it… This party was their “ thank you “ to all of those who were by both their sides, through the good and the bad times. Jesus talks about “ the body of Christ” and how we are created for each other, to be there through it all because that is when we see Jesus shine the most. We were not created to be alone but rather to be a family..a united family through Jesus. This party was a reminder of the power of prayer and support of friends and family, and most importantly, Jesus. If you are going through a difficult time DON’T do it alone. Reach out to others and you will find that the burden of your journey becomes so much lighter, comforting, and hopeful. As Jesus says “ Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest….take my yoke for it is easy and my burden is light”. I pray you too my see your prayers answered and to celebrate with those who carried your burdens with you.
