CELEBRATING FALL FRIENDS

The apples are bubbling with the smell of cinnamon, nutmeg, and apple pie spices. As I often do I changed the recipe. So I added a little of this, and a little of that, and finally drizzled the last ingredient over the golden glitter. My first fall cookie created for a very special party to come. In just a little awhile we will be celebrating the September birthdays of our dearest and closest friends in San Diego. Some people show love through gifts, cards, acts of service ( like when Kev put up stakes around what was our dead trees!), and some bake. It may still be 100 degrees outside but in my kitchen the leaves are falling with bright oranges, reds, and yellows. It’s a season for change. And for some change couldn’t come fast enough. Have you gone through or still going through a difficult season of health, finances, relationships, an indecisive career path? I know many who wish it would finally end but with a positive outcome. Our future here is unpredictable but our eternal future is guaranteed. As much as I have loved being in AZ ( ok, maybe not the summers!), going back home to our San Diego family brings me such Joy and happy tears. We have been bonded over many decades on the foundation of Jesus. One of the greatest gifts God has given us all is being with those who love and accept us…to help us go through the different seasons of life with peace and hope. And so it will be when we once again hug our friends in San Diego. I can smell the barbecue, hear the laughter ring from the backyard, and see the smiling faces of those who are blowing out their candles…another year to celebrate the JOY of friendships that only God has put together. May those who are struggling right now reach out to others for support but more importantly to Jesus…for He is the truest of friends.
