ZUMBA: SHAKE, RATTLE AND LAUGH
After 30 minutes of debating it was time to get up and get moving. Kev made sure my bike was safe and off I went. It was Zumba time. The class was only a “ couple of miles away..NOT!! More like six miles each way!) I finally make it and my decision was greeted with welcoming smiles and familiar faces. But this time the class had almost doubled! The snowbirds were slowly coming back and what a JOY it was to have them there. Julie, affectately aka Jules, goes to the front and says what she always says” Ready to party?” and the crowd yells “YES!” For one hour we are transported to happier days…shaking our hips with Elvis, kicking our feet up to the beat of Footloose, and playing our air guitars to rock and roll. There was laughter, and more laughter, as we all try and keep up with Jules. You might wonder who are these wild people? Any and everyone over 55+ in a little community called Sun City. Since retirement I have been blessed to take advantage of a lot that Sun City has to offer, including this Saturday morning Zumba class. If there is anything we have learned post-Covid, is that our well being isn’t just about our physical health but also our mental and spiritual health. And that’s what this Zumba class has offered to those of us who make the time to be there. A time to be with others who were once strangers but are now part of a community that cares for one another. As the Bible shares from the wisdom of King Solomon in Ecclesiastes 4:9 “ Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor. If either of them falls down, one can help the other up”. Thank you Jules for bringing JOY to us every week. Until we meet again, I pray Gods favor and love for each and every one.
