UPROOTED

Look familiar? About a month ago I did a blog about my upcoming sunflowers. I was mistaken. I took a picture of what was growing and went to Lowes. It was not a sunflower. It was a TREE!! And not just any tree. It was a white mulberry tree. I planted 20 sunflower seeds and got a white mulberry tree. None of the sunflowers sprouted but only this tree. Our best guess is that it came from birds but it’s still a mystery. But there was a problem. Although it was thriving, it would eventually cause multiple problems because it was growing in the wrong place…our flower bed that was right next to the house. The roots alone would entangle underneath the house and our existing shrubbery could be at risk. We were told we would need to uproot the tree and replant it. As anyone knows, uprooting any plant could kill them. Have any of you experienced an “ uprooting” in your life? Have you had to make a decision that could possibly change your life, and maybe not for the good? Uprooting is going forth into the unknown with the hopes it will lead to a better future. It could be a job, a relationship, an operation, or a move. Recently our son was in this quandary with two jobs. Finally, it came down to what would potentially lead to other opportunities. The promises given could in fact simply be lies but it was time to take a step of faith…faith that God has our backs, our best interests because He loves us. Kevin prepared the hole and then he dug out the tree. The roots were deep and spread out…seeking every bit of water that it could. With one last pull we got to the end of the root. We quickly put it in the new hole and waited. Like all big decisions for change, it takes time, patience, and prayer to see the end result. The next day we got up early to see the tree. It had completely withered and looked dead. Kev thinks it’s gone or maybe in shock, but I haven’t given up. Sometimes, the outward appearances doesn’t show what’s going on beneath the surface. Roots need to find new paths for sustainable growth…in a better place. And that’s where faith is found…waiting patiently for God as we obediently follow His lead. So, I continue to water what looks like a dead tree, so that it has time to find its new source for growth. ( ok, when I held onto its leaves to pray and they came off afterwards it was a little disheartening, LOL ). BUT, like all of us, if you seek the Lord when He calls you to “uproot” your life, it will eventually lead to the JOY and purpose that only He can promise and deliver. Oh, did I mention the SECOND tree? God never ceases to surprise me…
