HEART OF THE FATHER

Baseball, football, soccer…not one game was missed. With a little sun hat on, Kev would put Jake in a special back pack so the both of them could explore the great outdoors. Fishing, canoeing, river rafting, flying over glaciers in Alaska, horseback riding in Banff, snow shoeing on our property at the cabin. Biking in the back woods, camping in the Sierras. Choosing to work at Jakes school instead of dreams he had so that he would be safe while mom traveled with her job. Making a cross for the school…together. And when we got a call from the police it was dad who was right there supporting and comforting Jake. The prayers and tears they share over the health of mom. Sharing Jesus. Yes, there have been many wonderful times they have had together but it hasn’t always been easy. Being a dad has a different role than a mom. They carry the heavy burden of leading a family, being a good provider, protecting from all kinds of dangers..including bullies. And if their role model wasn’t so good..well, like our recent guest speaker shared “ wounds or pain that isn’t transformed will be transferred to those you love”. And that’s where Jesus comes in. At 23 now Jake and Kev have come to a mutual respect and admiration for each other. God has transformed both of their hearts. This is the heart of the Father.. We have hope and confidence for healing when we give our lives completely to Jesus. To all the fathers out there, Happy Fathers Day and thank you..thank you for all that you have done, sacrificed, and loved us through the challenges of life. We love you.
