HIS CALLING

We met him at GCU. He was one of Jakes roommates. He played the guitar, chelo, drums, ran constantly, and donated a LOT of blood to pay for all of his tattoos. His family had served in the military and his degree would be in history. He loved all things WW11, and soccer. Jake and Andreas were unlikely friends but eventually became besties. After college he got his masters in education and taught high school history. But he knew he had a different calling in his life. He was offered many prestigious positions in politics and schools but something in him knew he would be going in another direction. A few days ago he got the call. He will be going into the military and off to the officers candidacy training camp. His position in the military will be important, using all of his gifts that God has given him. And, as an extra blessing, he met his girlfriend Bailey. She’s an “ older woman” of 29 and getting her pilot license! We are very proud of Andreas and know that God is going to use him mightily in the years to come. But this story is about more than just Andreas. This is about his generation, Jakes generation, the future generation. They will be the ones to change America, the world, the very fabric of lives everywhere. As parents, and for some, grandparents ( shout out to John and Cathy Wheeler as new grandparents!) we have instilled into this generation the same values, beliefs, work ethic, that was handed down to us. I admit that I have been very concerned of what we will have left them. But, God showed me through the lives of Andreas, Jake and his girlfriend Amber, Brooke, and so many of our friends children, that they were created for such a time as this. God will be with all of them just like he was in our generation. Our job, as it always has been, is to PRAY for them, support them, encourage them in whatever endeavor they may be seeking, to love them unconditionally, to be there when times get difficult, and most importantly, to continue to set the example of what a Christ follower looks like. We each were given freedom to find our calling..now it’s time to let this generation do the same…with Gods blessing. So Andreas, with every fiber in our being, Kev and I want you to know how proud we are of your Christ like character, your devotion to Jake as one of the best friends he could ever have, and for accepting your God given calling. For all of those to come after us we will continue to pray for you. May God shine His light on you, may you always remember His love for you, and that He will always be with you. May He show favor and blessings on you, and may you rise to your calling with gratitude and humility. In Jesus, Amen and Amen.
