IN THE EYE OF THE STORM: A MIRACLE

Hurricane Helene….hurricane Milton two weeks later. Floridians are used to them. It comes every year. Most of the time they can just ride them out. But hurricane Milton was not the one to ride out. At a category 5 with possible surges over 15 feet no one was going to be rescued anytime soon. Governor DeSantis warned that if you chose to stay they would not be rescued until it was safe for the first responders. It doesn’t get anymore serious than that. Many of us have loved ones in Florida and so we were in constant communication with them before the deadliest storm landed. My brother Tom and his wife Wendy were one of those who did have a place to evacuate so they left early. Tom is not one to exaggerate ( having been a commercial pilot ) so when he decided they had to leave we knew it was serious. Many people started to pray…and pray…and pray. Only God could change the direction or minimize the destruction. Have you ever been in a situation or in it right now where the impossible seems just that…impossible? Maybe it’s your marriage, or the diagnosis of cancer may have come back, or for those who are suffering after Hurricane Helene, just having the electricity come back on. As Wednesday night approached hurricane Milton only grew stronger. It WAS going to hit the middle of Florida…but something happened. Like watching the hurricane in slow motion it began to weaken..change course…The hurricane that was predicted to be the biggest one in Florida in 100 years changed. The impossible became possible. The next morning at 4:30 am I checked the weather channel. I texted my brother. Sometime later that morning his neighbors sent him this picture of the “ damage” that was done to his house. After viewing this picture of the minimal damage Tom knew he had seen a miracle. Do YOU need a miracle right now? The God who can calm the seas can do it…wants to show you HIs power, His love for you. Now is the time to trust Him, rest in Him, believe in Him. Give your cares to Him right now and wait…He is the God of miracles.
