JOY IN A POT
Spring has sprung. And with that so have the flowers. In Arizona we have only a small window of opportunity to enjoy mild weather that won’t kill our plants. As I took my pots out of storage, I decided to start a new hobby; painting my pots to bring in more color on my patio. Only there is one problem…I can’t paint! Kev is really good at it but this is my project. So, I started with a sketch, figuring out what kind of flower and color I wanted. I bought one flower at a time. The first was a purple one. The second was a pink and white flower. I know, it’s hard to envision it when you look at them on my pot! Although it may not look the the real image , I found that it was the process of creating that brought me JOY. The end result would change as I got a little bit better but the excitement of coming up with something new was what motivated me to start. Have you found yourself looking at “ empty pots”, not knowing how to start again, not knowing what you want, not sure what “color” will bring you JOY? Sometimes life’s circumstances find us “ stuck”, because the life we saw ourselves living in doesn’t look like the one we have now. But God does. He is our master Creator, our Father, who knows exactly what we were created for and the path to get there. Jesus is the path…He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Without Him guiding us we will only be trying to fill our pots with things that will find us empty again and again. As I look out onto my patio, seeing the pots yet to be painted, I smile at what could be…what can be…what will be…Jesus can take your empty pots and make them vibrant and beautiful again…filling them with JOY overflowing, even when it seems impossible.
