THE FORGOTTEN LETTER
It was buried among the scattered pictures in a box with the name “gratitude”. It was written on our 18th wedding anniversary. We had gone on a cruise to the Caribbeans. While there we swam with the dolphins ( this had been on my bucket list), parasailed over the aqua blue waters, and drank Bahama Mamas while the sun set. I can still smell the salt air while dozing off to the sound of the ocean waves in our hammock. Those were good times. The letter goes on to say that, no matter what we face in the future, with God in the center of our marriage, we can make it through it all. Little did we know how those promises would come to fruition in 2022. Since that time we bought and sold our three story log cabin, I started a bakery business and closed it, Jake went to college and is about to graduate, we moved from the ocean breezes to the cactus of the deserts, work for a glass company, and are about to embark on another major change! I cried reading the letter a second time. Like most of us, life hasn’t stayed the same since 2004. For some the future is difficult to face. For others it is a welcome relief. For me it isn’t so much that I look to the future but rather, live for the present. What about you? Are you making your five year plan or just grateful you made it through today? One thing is certain; we are all given just one day at a time to live. What we choose to do with it will be our forever legacy here, and in heaven. As you journey through the days to come, no matter how long or short they may be, I pray Jesus will be in the center of your life. After twenty seven years of marriage ( ok in April it will be!) that part of the letter still remains the same…Jesus is still in the center of our marriage…love you babe..
