EDMAN: OUR FOREVER FRIEND IN JESUS
They flew from all over the nation, drove for many hours, spent endless time and resources, left important events from their own business, for this one day…the celebration of the life of our dearest friend Ed Hajj. He passed away from ALS. But, before he did, he intentionally prepared for this one moment. The entire service, from the speakers, to the scriptures read, to the songs played, to the video he did of himself, was for one purpose..to share the love, joy, and calling of Jesus. If you were not sure about Jesus there were those who shared the steps to a relationship with Him. But, for those who are Christians, he had a different message. It was this one question: what is your intent in your walk with Jesus? With this question to ponder, we left the service and headed over to the “ after party” to share our stories about Ed. You see, it’s been over thirty five years of friendships that we have had with Ed and with each other. We all met at College Ave Baptist church’s college group. After we arrived at Cindys’ house ( thank you Cindy for hosting this party that will be forever remembered) you could hear the sounds of JOY. People were laughing, hugging, speaking quiet whispers of prayers for one another, sharing stories of their kids, and also shed some tears. What we were doing is what we’ve been doing for the last thirty five years…sharing life together. This too was also orchestrated by Ed. He knew that we all needed to once again be together; for healing, strength, and a renewal of our purpose here on earth..to intentionally walk in the love and joy of Jesus. Many had grown weary of the path they were on. But, in this one night, in the celebration of the most remarkable man of God named Ed, were given back the hope of our eternity so we can finish this race with the same intentionality that Ed had..for our Papa to welcome us with the angels singing “ well done good and faithful servant”. Thank you Ed for your forever friendship, your infectious JOY, your godly example, and for reminding us to let go of all the things that have no real purpose but to hold on to the one thing that does…Jesus. Can I get an amen?
