THE PRAYER OF A DOG
With eyes closed and paws up the dog began to pray. As he prayed the room became eerily quiet. It was as if the world had stopped… until you could hear the crying of the person he was praying for. The dog never looked up. He continued to pray. No words, no sound was heard from him. He could feel the pain, the sadness, the loneliness. It seemed as though it had gone on forever but, it was only for a few minutes. The dog opened his eyes and looked directly at his new friend. The patient stopped crying and smiled. He was now in a place of peace. As if on cue, the dog gently lifted his paws and was back on the ground. He left as quietly as he had come in. Another life had been transformed from sorrow to JOY. Now, you could ask “ How do you know this dog was praying or could feel the pain of the patient?” If you had been in the room you FELT it. The countenance of the patient had changed. For those of us who have had dogs you know what I am talking about. But, what really struck me is that Iv’e seen this picture before…only it was in the image of a man..a man named Jesus. He was always praying to the Father for us. He too could feel our pain, sadness, and loneliness. He KNEW what we needed and was willing to do what was required for us to have true peace because He loves us. His sacrificial death on the cross gave us access to the Father now and forever more. And like this prayer from this special dog, our lives can also be transformed. I pray that you too will accept the love of the Father that he has for you through his son Jesus. Thank you, our amazing praying dog, for reminding us what JOY we can have if only we ask our Father. Amen doggy..amen.
