WE ARE RICH

It was a question we would ask ourselves “ What would we do if we won the lottery?” But this time Kev answered “ We ARE rich”. I was startled. Why? Because by the end of April we had less money than Jimmy Stewart in the Christmas classic movie “It’s a Wonderful Life”. In the movie there was a bank run and he saved the savings and loan company with only a dollar left! There had been a glitch with one of our investments that wasn’t discovered until the last day of April. At the same time we had some unexpected expenses leaving us in a difficult financial dilemma. Except there was one account. But this account was set aside for a vow I had made to the Lord. It was his money to show me what he wanted it for. At one point I heard a voice saying “ that’s your money. You need it. God would want you to use it”. Have you ever heard that “other” voice? The one that would tell you God can’t be trusted, can’t be relied upon, won’t really take care of you? You have a better chance of winning the lottery than to trust someone you can’t even see. I bowed my head and said “ God, I will trust you to take care of us”. And He did. Someone who loves God sent us some money to carry us over. We were able to repay them back. But the question still remained. We aren’t rich…at least monetarily. So why did Kev say we were, especially after what we went through? The picture collage says it all. He started to list everything…our family, friends, home, passions, ministries, marriage…but most importantly, the Father, Jesus, and Holy Spirit. So I put together this collage. It’s a reminder to me that when I feel like life is too hard, hopeless, and not fair, that I really AM rich. How about you? What does your picture collage look like? What is in the center of it? Sometimes you can’t really find out how rich you are until you’ve lost something, someone, or gone through pain. As our pastor shared, “ Pain can make you bitter or better”. Which way will you go? Pain, loss, or disappointments are inevitable..how we embrace it will be our choice. It will be dependent on what is in the center of your collage. If you are going through a difficult time I would encourage you to trust in the one who has made you HIS center… He will make your paths straight… will bring you to the other side…will be faithful. Yes Kev we ARE rich….and we never did win the lottery…we found Jesus instead.
