A FULL CIRCLE MOMENT
This will be our last time…because we are tooooo old to do this again!!! But we’re here and we couldn’t be more thankful and excited. Thanks to our friends, Mike and Lori, from our second Rooted bible study group, who brought lunch for us yesterday, so that we were able to “ finish the race” as Kev and I say today. We found out we made a good team; I was with the movers cleaning the rental house as they moved from one room to the next, while Kev was at the new house getting things put away that he had moved trip after trip. Our former neighbors stopped by to say goodbye and even offered a great barbecue before we left. Shortly after arriving in our new house we quickly were greeted by our new neighbors. With no walls in our backyard , we met everyone around us. Paul, our neighbor across from us, drove me in his golf cart this morning to show me the recreation centers we now belong to. Jake came over and helped Kev move and even he likes the place. People have asked me“ are you excited about the new house? “ Or, how would you describe it? My answer? It’s a funky house that would not have been my first choice but it is far greater than I had wished for because God himself picked it out for us. Have you ever wanted something that you thought would be the best for you but God gave you a different gift? At first it may not have been what you wanted but later it turned out to be your greatest JOY in life. As I sat in our new living room, getting ready to write this blog on our new adventure, it was a full circle moment for me. Four years ago we left California with nothing and not knowing what our future would be like. And this year Jake will be graduating from college and we just bought a new home ( new is a relative statement since it was built in 1969-thus, why I call it funky!) Along the way we made new friends and neighbors, joined a wonderful church and now lead bible studies for such amazing people. We are embarking on another new chapter of our lives, with retirement closely around the corner. Who would have believed that such JOY would be found in the middle of a desert? As Paul and I were discussing on our way back, we both were astonished that it was not just the cactus that grew in this very hot environment; it was also the most beautiful of roses that flourished here as well. Conclusion? God can and most assuredly will, grow us the most when we are in the desert of our lives…so that we too will bloom with such beauty and fragrance to the glory of God. Thank you Jesus for this most wonderful, funky house. May we glorify your name in it.
