IRELAND: APRIL 3, 2023
The date is set: Ireland, April 3, 2023. Kev turns 70 that day. But, before that date comes Friday, April 1, 2023. RETIREMENT and oh yes our 28th wedding anniversary. After consulting with our financial advisor, it was agreed that we could retire a year earlier than was originally planned. Kev’s shoulder is going to require surgery sooner than later and, with my heart diagnosis in January, we decided we want to do this now. I will turn 65 years old in November so I will be able to get Medicare. We hope to visit with our family and friends afterwards. It was the inspiration of our good friend, Donna Hajj, who made a point of creating memories with Ed with several European trips that she will always be grateful she had with him. Being Irish, Ireland was on my “ bucket list” so we decided it would be the perfect vacation for our first week of retirement. Soon after we get back Kev will be getting his surgery. With Jake now out of college and on his own, it was time to finally do something we had always talked about but never really thought would happen. Our focus now is the exit plan going into retirement. We will work part time, volunteer in community outreaches as well as ministry opportunities. For us it’s not a time to slow down..it’s a time to be more available. As I pray everyday to honor and glorify the Lord, it was this verse that has now become my focus; “ Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your mighty acts to all who are to come”. ( I’m hoping this will be grandchildren…I’m just sayin Jake but no pressure! lol ). Until then, we will continue on the path the Lord has us on and lift many of you up in prayer…with hopes of seeing you in person soon. God Bless
