ONE BIG STEP AT 69
Whew…now that was a very, very big step. At 69 years today Kev went skydiving. Sooner than later, right,? So, why wait for 70 when you can do it now at 69? It had been on his bucket list for a long time. He gave me the same JOY when I turned 60! I have seen Kev happy, really happy, but not like this. He had a genuine smile that could light up the Empire State Building. We were up early in the morning to get to Casa Grande where the jump site was by the Tuscon airport. There will be better pictures forthcoming but for now this will be “the moment” to remember. Kev shared that after his first step out they free fell for quite a bit. Halfway through his flight the instructor allowed him to control the parachute! He was able to see his different mountains that he has come to love since living in AZ. But it was the landing that had all of us holding our breath. As I was getting my camera ready for his landing , he shot out of the sky and was landing at a record speed! Kev had just seconds to get his legs up before they landed. And then we heard him say very loudly “ that was awesome!” When was the last time you shouted with such joyful exuberance? It did my heart good to see and hear that kind of JOY. Sometimes we just need to be reminded that that kind of JOY is still here, especially if you have had a long bout of sadness. If you are still waiting for “your moment” I pray Jesus will show it to you soon..very soon. Oh, that’s right. He did..Easter. Take that step, that really big step, and what may seem like free falling, is really living in continuous JOY because Jesus is controlling your parachute. He knows where to take you, how fast, and when it’s time “to land”. You too will be able to say, with great enthusiasm , “ that was awesome!”
