Our Unexpected Angel
Small tears started to flow down her cheeks. She was overwhelmed with what God had done in our new home. Her name is Marilu, our realtor, our unexpected angel, our forever friend. Four years ago we had less than a week to find a rental. A friend from work had recommended her. I knew from the start she was the one to help us. Three days had past with no rental available. And then we found it. Through her expertise and Gods hand, we got the perfect place, even when it was impossible. The morning God told me we needed to buy a house now she was the one we went to. Her husband Mickey was with her now and that was an added bonus. As we prayed through each home we knew when we came to our now new home it was the right one. It’s been three weeks so we invited them to come back to see it. Of course I was baking chocolate chip cookies as they pulled up to the house. Our other friend, Rich, was busily helping Kev get our garage door opener working. For each home we looked at the main issue was the living room. This was the focal point because we wanted to use it as a place for ministry. Kev had just finished putting up shelving on the walls and I decorated them with our decor. As Marilu and Mickey sat on our new couch eating the freshly baked cookies , we began to talk about the hand of God working so beautifully in all of our lives. Because of what God did for us with this home Marilu was confident she could help another client in a similar situation. And she did! This isn’t a story about just Marilu, or the house. This story is about the faithfulness of God when it seems impossible. It’s easy to play “Christian” until you are really tested. Listening to the stories Marilu and Mickey have gone through and where they are now is a testimony that when you step out, when you are obedient to what God is calling you to do, only then can you experience the fullness of God’s faithfulness. My question to you is “ have you stepped out lately when you know God is calling you to do something that may seem impossible?” For some it’s the question of God Himself…is He real? Why do I need Him when I’m doing fine on my own? Is there really a heaven and hell? Or, I trusted Him before and He wasn’t there for me. I still got cancer..I still lost my job or worse yet, my child. And what about where we are as a nation, the world? Have you filled up lately or bought groceries? The questions could go on and on. But this story, from our unexpected angel, is a testimony that He is faithful….even in the midst of so many difficulties. A very good friend of ours from San Diego has just been diagnosed with stage 3 rectal cancer. At the end of his text, where he shared this with Kev and me, he says “ God is good”. Really? But I know our friend. He has lived a life full of challenges and yet he has experienced the faithfulness of God through it all…and he will this time too. I pray that, whatever your circumstances you are in, you will reach out to Jesus and ask Him to show you Himself, His faithfulness, and I guarantee He will.
